Quick Read: Are you ready to give your kids an epic adventure during the school holiday? Why not bring the family to the beautiful Faroe Island for an epic holiday!
Hey everyone, a happy new year to you and we’re in the year 2020 now! Any great travel plans in mind?
If you haven’t decided on one yet, don’t worry. That’s exactly what I intend to do in today’s note, hoping to provide some inspiration and fire up your excitement!
If you’ve ever heard of the place called Faroe Island, then I’m sure you’re very much aware of how insanely beautiful it is.
I haven’t been to this place yet, but I’ve always always wanted to visit it someday. And maybe… just maybe, this is it.
So maybe you heard of it. But you aren’t sure if it’s as good as it sounds. Here’s some images I’ve found on Google.
Like what you see? Yeah, that’s what I thought – because I wanted to go there too!
So, tell me how to get there now!
Right on to that. I’m sharing this particular flight path that will bring you to Faroe Island at a fairly cheap price of just SGD 1200.
Nuh uh! You heard that right. Just 1.2.0.0. 4 digits. From Singapore, yes.
At that price, most of us would’ve thought it will carry us as far as Helsinki or Oslo only. And with some patience, maybe you can get a ticket to Reykjavik too.
But Faroe? That might be new. At least it was to me. Because two years back, I can’t find anything below SGD 2000.
But with increased accessibility and consumer benefits of airline competitions, I’m going to share with you what I think is the best route to take to get there.
And now, it’s entirely possible and well within budget for most! In fact, it fits nicely in the price range I’m willing to pay for my air tickets too.
Yup, that’s right! Fly yourself to Copenhagen first then fly towards Faroe. It’s simpler that way, really.
There seems to be frequent flight from Copenhagen to Faroe, so timing wise it shouldn’t be a huge problem.
Pick the one that’s suitable for you or your group.
What’s the best way to experience Faroe Island?
Naturally, this is of my own opinion and it certainly doesn’t represent all – but I think the best way to enjoy Faroe, is by road-tripping or camping.
Road-tripping offers the best in class experience to indulge yourself in all its raw beauty, while having the complete control over where you wish to go, when you want to go.
Alternatively, camping is also the best way, in its truest natural form, to enjoy the wild.
And when it comes to camping, there’re two types that’s common amongst travellers – Wild Camping and Campervaning.
Tip: Wild camping is not allowed in Faroe Island and you should only be camping in the designated campsites. What that means is, you also can’t stop along the roads or any view points and sleep overnight in your car. (And that’s the reason why the campsite fees is included in the below itinerary)
Nowadays, Campervaning is a very popular travel style that both couples and family alike, prefer to do. And it’s obvious why.
Campervaning offers complete mobility while sacrificing little to none in terms of comfort. Sometimes staying in one place, isn’t the best way to enjoy to your heart’s content.
And Campervaning offers the exact portable home-on-the-road not just for 2, but for up to 6!
Just look at those images, oh my! So, regardless of which option you chose to explore the land of Faroe Island, you’re sure to be in awe of the beauty this place presents.
Do you have a plan in mind for reference?
I can’t and shouldn’t leave you all hanging right? That would be so terrible of me…
With all that said now, I do have a quick itinerary formed in mind already. It’s all estimated and many intricate details may not be worked in yet, but I don’t think I’m too far off.
Overview of the Drafted Itinerary
The overview plan of the itinerary looks like this.
- 3D2N, 12 Jun to 14 Jun: stay in Denmark to sleep off the fatigue and jet lag
- 7D6N, 14 Jun to 20 Jun: start of adventure! Drive around the island to explore and camp for the night
- 5D4N, 20 Jun to 24 Jun: last leg of trip left to explore the city of Denmark, grab more souvenirs and enjoy some great beers
I’ve done some quick research on the itinerary, such as where to stay and transport we have access to. Without further ado, below is the cost highlights for the entire trip.

Note: Prices may vary and subject to changes from the time of writing this piece of article. Please do your own due diligence and check the latest prices by clicking on the booking URL provided.
What’s included above certainly aren’t the best options, but is decent enough for the family to enjoy the trip. Although per pax cost ended up higher than SGD 4000, but there are items that are flexi and subjected to changes depending on your choices.
And of course, if only adults are travelling, the cost will further split amongst the group.
The first leg of the trip is quite straightforward – Enjoy your rest in Denmark, adjust your time and jet lag while getting a little use to the Scandinavian style before setting off.
Your adventure truly starts once you land on Faroe. With your campervan ready, you can start wandering around the island!
Your final leg of the trip ends up in Denmark, allowing you some ample time to explore the country too.
The itinerary especially covers an additional rented car to allow convenience for moving around.
Tip: Did a quick search on popular attraction, they are all pretty far off. If you take public, it might take a while. A car may work better for you if you have kids along too.
With the car, you can also bring your kids to Møns Klint, where organised tour brings you around the site and help you find your own 70 million years old fossil!
One of the best place on Earth to do fossil hunting and walk back 55 to 70 million years ago!
Activity Name | GeoCenter Møns Klint |
Running time | 1 hour |
Drive Duration | 2 hours from Copenhagen |
Activity Cost | Adult – SGD 26, Child – SGD 17 |
Operational Period | 04 April to 31 Oct |
Conveniently, the site also has one of the most beautiful and natural white/chalk cliffs. Sight-seeing here is certainly going to reward you plenty!
Tip: There’re quite a lot of stairs! So please be careful and for those with slight inconvenience, go slow.

Are we spending too much time in Denmark?
Perhaps. It depends on your liking and style. Some prefer more time in city, while others don’t.
Granted that the itinerary focuses on Faroe, but as always, my itinerary is shaped according to the flights.
If you’re willing to shell out extra bucks, you can extend your time in Faroe before coming back to Denmark.
- 2D1N: Denmark
- 8D7N: Faroe Island
- 4D3N: Denmark
Because this isn’t a full itinerary note, I won’t be covering everything. If you’d like to see a full itinerary to Faroe, drop me a note in the comments below!
As such, do bear in mind that expenses and activities are highly estimated here, just base on my own travel experience and style thus far.
You should absolutely adjust them accordingly. Especially if the group is more than 2.
Let me know if you need some help in that department!
Tip: Activities and expenses are really an estimation at this point. I can be spot-on for some groups, or completely miss by a mile for others. Please do your due diligence here.
So there you go, a quick note on a cheap flight to Faroe Island in 2020, with a high-level itinerary to get it started.
Any alternatives? What if I would like to explore both places?
I do happen to work out one. However, this itinerary contains lesser detail than the above. For example, activities to do for the duration in Denmark.
- 2D1N, 12 Jun to 13 Jun: Like the above, take it easy and rest first
- 6D5N, 13 Jun to 18 Jun: Start of adventure. 1 day shorter, but cost-balanced
- 7D6N, 18 Jun to 24 Jun: Last leg, but longer time to explore the city. There’s also plenty to see in Denmark!
